I don't live in NJ (or the northeast at all) any longer, but most of my family and friends still do. Happily, they are all okay and accounted for, and the worst damage was to the shingles on my parents' roof. And apparently to my Dad's sense of humor. But then that's always been a bit perverse.

By now it has become fairly obvious to me that I have a pattern when it comes to my writing. I don't know why, but for the last few years I seem to have done the vast majority of my writing in Vermont. (And in particularly bad phases, my only writing happened in Vermont.) Okay, so I knew I was moving into Tornado Alley. But somehow it didn't really sink in until I found myself hanging out in the basement of my office with the rest of the building's occupants for the better part of an hour on Friday morning.

( TLDR: No actual tornado damage to me, my cats, my apartment, my car, or my place of work. In fact, no actual tornado in my near vicinity to my knowledge. )

So I'm finally all settled in here in my new place and at my new job. The whole moving process was traumatic for me, to put it mildly, but on the whole things are now good in the world of me.
